Our History
Regina Baaba Adepa Honny is a philanthropist, life teacher with loads of experience, a lovely wife and mother for all especially the sick and needy. She is a proud African, a fante from the central region of Ghana-West Africa. She is married to a very wonderful, God fearing, caring and loving man. Her husdand has been an inspiration and a teacher in her life.
Baaba Adepa is passionate with an incredibly powerful story. She dedicated her life to showing an undying love, care, support and attention to both the known and unknown. She is a stand-out piece with no boundaries of extending a helping hand to all.
The trials, challenges, hardships and disappointments did not discourage her but rather encouraged, pushed her harder, surged her on and she defied the odds to make satisfying and pleasant outcomes. She exceeded people’s expectations.
She has succeeded and guided people who had no hope, help, been rejected by family and thought all was gone through life and brought the best out of them. She took these people in at very tender ages and some are happily married living in Ghana and overseas (USA and Europe).
Others are also fortunate to be in Senior Secondary School and various tertiary institutions across the country. All these fulfilment and achievements would not have been made possible without our Father Lord in Heaven.
She always tell people what inspires her in life is the BIBLE. Of course, she is our birth mother! and blessed us with the names Gibeleen and Sandra.
Now looking at the world and life through our mother’s eyes as ONE DREAM, ONE TEAM, ONE MISSION and ONE VISION, The Gibeleen And Sandra (G.N.S) Foundation was born.
Our purpose is to give back to the society our past, present and future in ostracizing indifference and hence making a significant difference in the lives of the vulnerable, helpless and needy people. When life feeds you lemons, G.N.S will firmly walk you through your dark clouds.
The Life Hack of a Sickle Cell Patient
The “taboo child”, “lazy child”, “the wierdo”, “the sicklier” they called him. The doctors had advised his mother to terminate him when he was conceived because they termed as a problem child and so was not even expected to be born. At birth he was given an age limit to live. His birth destroyed the relationship between his parents.
His only food has been blood through painful infusions and constant dose of medications. His crises are constant and unpredictable characterized by pain, recurrent infections, anaemia, weakness, skin sores and others.
He was shunned by society because nobody understood him and his condition. This paralyzed him and resulted in him dropping out of school. In place of this, all he learnt was his constant rush to the hospital desperately seeking blood to survive. This blood that is readily unavailable for transfusion, this same blood his body will reject and result in infections. Not to talk of his expensive medications which were mostly also unavailable and or are ineffective in times of his crisis.
Pain, aggravation, stress and frustration are put on replay throughout his life in what is termed as sickle cell crisis. His battle between life and death is an every second affair. This story is reflective in the lives of many others.
He is our uncle, teacher, inspiration and our all-time hero. He has lived past every age-limit ever given him. His life saviour, Regina Baaba Adepa Honny helped him defy the odds of living with sickle cell anaemia and disorders.
He is the epitome of a special breed considering the number of people, time, effort and money needed to keep him alive (only one sickle cell patient). Others were not that lucky and died prematurely. We see him as a blessing that has touched us in the most unique way to share his story and change the lives of others; hence Sickle cell anaemia and disorders as one of the major areas of concern for the G.N.S Foundation.
