
World Sickle Cell Day
The G.N.S Foundation marked this year’s World Sickle Cell Day by creating a massive awareness for over 400 people and screening 200 students at the Kwabenya Community Senior High School.
The Foundation fed 400 people. The theme for this year’s celebration was ‘Global Action, Local Impact: Empowering communities for effective self- advocacy. The Foundation’s project was inline with the theme. The Executive Director, Mrs. Sandra Ayivor in her speech spoke about the Foundation, and Purpose of gathering.
The Foundation’s event brought together key stakeholders, Traditional leaders, dignitaries, seasoned resource persons, industry players etc.
The MP for Dome Kwabenya in the person of Hon. Faustina Elikplim Akurugu graced the event with her laudable speech. There were other prominent dignitaries in the persons Dr Dominic Oduro Antwi (President, Ghana India Trade Advisory Chamber), Mr. Bernard Joseph (CEO, Sunshine Healthcare Limited, Dr. Daud (CEO, Daud Herbal Hospital), Dr. Kwabena Amoako our resource person, Nana Agyei Obrempong l, Dr. Okatakyie Anim l, Mr. Okyeame Kwame, Mr. Kofi Adjorlolo, Hon. Rex Wussah (Former MCE, Ada), Mr. Apanga Lamtiig (Deputy CEO, Gaming Commission, Prophet Jones Korsinah (General Overseer, God’s Haven Ministries), Mrs Victoria Lebene Osafo Nkansah (Founder VL Exposure), Amb. Dr. Paul Boachie Ansah (Board Chairman and Group CEO, Imperial Leo Network Limited, Helen Safo (Founder, Empower Sickle Cell), Sandrah Esinam Zigah (GIMPA SRC Women’s Commissioner), Ama Lawson (Founder, Women on the Move), Dr. Kwame Dzikunu ( President, Health CEOS and Scientist Network), Madam Joyce (Life Insurance Underwriter).
It was an impactful and educative program filled with fun as well. The students performed a beautiful choreography. The auditorium got so lighted up with beautiful and energetic performance from the Rap doctor, Okyeame Kwame. Dignitaries also took their turns to speak about Sickle Cell Disease.
The Founder cut her birthday cake with the school and provided sumptuous meals for over 400 people. Products from Sky Pure Company Limited, M& G Pharmaceuticals and Promasidor were shared for all. Dignitaries also did a walk through at the screening table. They interacted with students and the team handling the entire screening session.
